the method of demons pt. 2

Smokey as hell last evening,

but the sky is clearing now.

I've noticed life is like that -

bad becomes better here,

while there, you suffer setbacks.

Things just shift and slide.

The method of demons is such

to keep you fixed in a moment

of absolute defeat.

It has something to do with memory:

do you remember when...

Wasn't it horrible?

It has returned again,

but this time, you really blew it.

That moment unpacked its bags,

and now, it will never leave.

The smoke will never clear.

But nature's too stubborn for that,

and actually, so is grace.

Nature is restless to change things,

and grace is an opportunist.

And so, things shift and slide

whether we like it or not,

hopefully for the better.

Hopefully for the better,

but nature can be cruel.

Nature loves death and taxes -

and so it's not always friendly.

Grace is always loving,

but it's also hard to figure.

It wants you to live forever

even after you die.

So grace is always your friend,

but its ways are mysterious.

You have to develop a longview

of things 

to stay hopeful.

But despair is never worth it.

The demons can't box you forever.
