The method of demons is to make you perfect. Now ain't that something? Moral impeccability. That's something else. Actually, it's nothing. It's not true. Perfection doesn't happen, not in this life. We try in this life, make progress when possible. That is all. Only One is perfect. As they say in AA, let go and let God. Let God be perfect. Let you do your best. It's faith, not perfection; it's patience, not rigor, that accomplishes anything. Let nothing disturb you, said Theresa of Avila. Worry is useless, said Padre Pio. And the Grateful Dead said: Whistle through your teeth and spit because it's alright.
